Eligibility and guidelines
The Splash Awards Competition is open to all organisations and individuals involved in designing, building, managing, maintaining, marketing, or promoting Drupal websites. This page contains the competition rules and some helpful guidelines for making sure the entry process goes smoothly.
The following rules are meant to maintain fairness and consistency for all Splash Awards organised.
Terms and Conditions of entry / usage
-
Registration is open to everyone for the fee of € 150 per case during the regular submission period (until September 8, 2019). The fee for entries during the extended deadline period is € 200 per case (until September 15, 2019). Both fees also include 2 tickets to the event.
-
Each company can enter a maximum of three cases for the International Splash Awards. If one case is submitted into three different categories this also counts as three cases.
-
All entries must be original and the entrant either owns the work or has permission from a client or other appropriate party to enter the work, with all rights granted therein. In the event that an entrant without such rights submits an entry, the entrant will not be eligible for the competition. The Splash Awards are not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the entrant.
-
If a case has won a (International) Splash Award at a previous event, it can not be submitted again to the same event.
-
The project requires to be lively accessible. Members of the jury should be able to evaluate cases as would any user of the website or system. For tools and platforms that require a login, submissions should also contain login credentials consistent with the experience of actual users. If they are not provided, the case will be judged on the screenshots and case video that is submitted.
-
Entries must have been in general use for at least part of the current calendar year, and must have been launch no earlier than the previous calendar year. So for example: If the Splash Awards are held in October 2019, entries must have been launched after January 1st 2018.
-
Submission of any entry acknowledges the right of the Splash Awards to use it for exhibition, promotion, and publication purposes in any medium, in order to promote the Splash Awards or Drupal.
-
Submitting a case does not guarantee that the event will be held. In case the event is cancelled, your submission will also be annulled.
International vs. local Splash Awards
-
The International Splash Awards are held during each DrupalCon.
-
For locally organised Splash Awards the organisation submitting a case, or their client, must be registered as a legal entity in the territory where the event is organised.
Nominations and judging
-
Our international jury will appreciate it when you formulate your answers in English.
-
The professional jury assesses all submitted cases (see the criteria). Per category the 4 cases with the highest average score will be nominated for the award.
-
Within each category, a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 cases will be nominated for a Splash Award. In case of a tie for the 4th place, those cases will all be nominated for the Splash Award in that category, causing the number of nominees to be greater than 4.
-
If there are less than 3 entries per category, this category will lapse. If a category lapses, alle participants will be notified and offered the option to move to a different category at no extra costs.
-
The case with the highest average score in a category will win the first prize in that category.
-
The case with the second highest average score in a category will win the second prize in that category.
-
In case of a tie for the winner in a category, the jury will discuss the cases and hold a second voting round.
-
In case of a tie for the runner up, both cases will win a second prize.
Unacceptable material
-
Entries that contain pornographic material, propagate “hate” messages, make defamatory statements, or which are otherwise extraordinarily offensive are not eligible.
Disqualification
- Entries that contain pornographic material, propagate “hate” messages, make defamatory statements, or which are otherwise offensive are not eligible and will be disqualified.
- Ineligible entries may be disqualified at any phase of the competition without notification.
Code of Conduct
The International Splash Awards follow the Drupal Community's Code of Conduct. Please follow those guidelines. As a reminder, we will include an abstract of the code of conduct on how we intend to resolve conflicts.
Conflicts in our community can take many forms. Disagreements, social and technical, are normal, but we do not allow them to persist and fester leaving others uncertain of the agreed direction.
We expect individuals to first try to resolve conflicts between themselves in a constructive manner, asking for help when needed. This approach gives people more control over the outcome of their dispute.
If that fails, we escalate the matter to structures with designated leaders to step in and provide clarity and direction. When conflicts do arise there is a thought-out and agreed process for resolving them: Conflict Resolution Policy.
We will not tolerate bullying or harassment of any member of the Drupal community.
If you feel threatened or violated as a result of intimidating, bullying, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct, please speak up and ask it to stop. If you do not feel that you can speak up, contact the Community Working Group immediately with evidence of the incident. Incidents of bullying and harassment can be reported privately and will be treated seriously and discreetly. Use this Incident Report Form.
Please speak up if you notice someone else being subjected to such behaviour. Refer people to our Code of Conduct and point out such behaviour is unwelcome.
