More Than Scleroderma

Health care

Summary

Website for education and help of chronically ill patients with systemic sclerosis which is based on a CMS with great content flexibility and mapping of high design requirements.

Case description

Systemic sclerosis (Scleroderma) is a rare, autoimmune disease which is potentially life-threatening. It is difficult to diagnose, the prognosis is hard to predict, and treatment is complex. Patients and their loved ones struggle to obtain accurate information about the disease, treatment options, and likely outcomes. With "More than Scleroderma" Boehringer Ingelheim aims to inform, support and empower patients to patients to better manage scleroderma.

Case goals and results

Whilst providing education and information the goal of "More than scleroderma" was to establish links to patient organisations and provide further support.
Furthermore we wanted to find solutions for the designers frustration that "content management systems" limit their freedom of expression and editor's woes that "content management systems" are too hard to understand.

Challenges

The Challenge was to provide an editorial workflow in Drupal with a lot of flexibility as well as constraints for the editors as envisioned by the design agency.
From a development perspective we wanted to give as much freedom as possible to the frontend developers to be agnostic of Drupal internals so that they can concentrate on using state of the art tools for web development.
